Learning Outcomes and Application | The unit applies to selecting and applying millinery construction techniques required for the assembly of combinations of complex blocked millinery shapes such as hand- blocked crown and brim shapes, resulting in unique millinery with an intricate silhouette.Because of the complex shapes involved, consideration must be given to the performance characteristics and handling requirements of the blocked millinery materials and components, and the advanced construction and assembly techniques required of the millinery design.Work may be conducted in small to large scale enterprises and may involve individual and team-related activities.The application of this unit is according to OHS practices of the enterprise and workplace practices which may include:environmental aspects associated with the use of millinery solvents and adhesivesOHS practices, including hazard identification and control measures associated with the use of millinery solvents and adhesivesrequirements prescribed by legislation, awards agreements and conditions of employmentstandard operating procedureswork instructionsoral, written and visual communicationquality practices including responsibility for maintenance of own work quality and contribution to quality improvement of team or section outputhousekeepingtasks related to environmental protection, waste disposal, pollution control, and recyclingThis unit requires an ability to interpret and apply design information, and to problem solve complex millinery material selection and assembly requirements.
